Night lights
Night Lights is a series of photographs and screen prints that is an exploration of my practice as an artist. After spending most of my semester completing Rescaping for the fall BFA show, I wasn’t sure what direction I wanted to take the project in. Searching for inspiration, I decided to just take my camera through downtown Chicago and just capture whatever caught my eye. I found myself constantly looking at all the lights sporadically left on in the high-rise buildings during the night, leading me to think, “When was the last time I saw a sky full of stars?” Living in a large city, stars are something you rarely get to see due to the light pollution being given off. Now, viewers may interpret/relate differently, but I see the building lights as replacements for the stars I wish I could see.
